Learn how to log in to the event platform using a password, magic link, or one-time code and troubleshooting common login issues.

Introduction

Logging in grants you access to all event features, including sessions, networking, and more. Many events provide specific branded mobile apps or web platforms that enable participants to access event details, schedules, and networking features. This guide covers how to identify the right event app, download it, and the different login methods Swapcard provides, such as password-based access or a one-time code.

Upon registering for an event, an account is automatically created for you on the event platform, eliminating the need for you to sign up once more.

To access your account, you must receive a magic link or a one-time code via email:

  • Password: Suitable for users who prefer to have a consistent, memorable login method.

  • One-Time Code: Offers an easy, no-password-required access, ideal for casual users who don’t want to manage passwords. Logging in with a one-time code won’t prompt you to create a new password.

🔍 A magic link and a one-time code are a secure, password-free method allowing attendees and exhibitors immediate access to their accounts.

How to login to the event app?

1. Via event organizer emails

After registration, you'll receive emails from the Event Organizer containing buttons that link directly to the event platform, logging you in automatically. On mobile devices with the event app installed, these links will open the app and log you in directly.

Magic links in these emails are valid for 72 hours. After expiry, clicking the link will redirect you to the login page, where you'll need to request a one-time code by entering your email address.

Note: If your event uses a branded domain (not app.swapcard.com), clicking organizer emails will direct you to that domain. Always use the domain provided in your invitation email to ensure correct access.

2. Via the Login Screen

Whether you've downloaded the mobile app or are accessing the web version, if you're not logged in, you'll be taken to the Login screen. Here, by entering your email, you will either be prompted to enter your password (if previously set) or notified that a one-time code has been sent to your email.

If you're unsure of your password, you can request a one-time code by clicking on the respective option.

3. On the app

When you receive a one-time passcode (OTP) to log in, the process is designed to be fast and simple—especially on mobile.

If you're using a native email app on your phone, your passcode may appear automatically in the login screen, saving you a trip to your inbox.

The OTP code doesn't include dashes, making it easier to enter without mistakes.

Finally, as soon as you land on the OTP page, the cursor is already placed in the first field—just type in your code.

By logging-in with the one-time code, you won't be prompted to define or create a new password.

If you want to reset and define a new password, click on "Reset password" on the top right corner of the password input. Leader more about password reset here.

What should I do if I can't log in?

If you encounter login issues, don’t worry—common problems can be quickly resolved by following these steps. Whether it’s an unrecognized email, missing magic link, or expired code, identifying the issue will help you regain access.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot:

Unrecognized email address

If you encounter an error stating your email is not linked to any registration, it could mean:

  • You used a different email or made a typo.

  • Your registration data hasn't synced yet (common shortly after registration).

✅ Check the email listed in your Swapcard profile and compare it with the email that received your event registration confirmation.

Need help? Contact support, who can help verify and send a new magic link to the correct email.

Otherwise, please contact the event organizer.

Magic link or one-time code email not received

Your email address is recognized, the interface tells you that "we just sent you an email", but you do not receive anything in your mailbox?

  • First, click on "Send me a one-time login code instead" at the bottom of the view "An email is on its way". This email contains a 6 character code.

  • Please check in your spam or junk folder.

The email is usually sent from noreply@swapcard.com, but it can also be sent from a custom email address that the event organizer has defined.

  • The email might be blocked by your company's firewall if you are using your work email address. In this case please ask your IT department to whitelist noreply@swapcard.com or ask the support team for a new link.

If issues persist, contact our support team using the support widget at the bottom right of your screen.

Expired magic link

Magic links expire for security reasons. By clicking again on the link, you will simply have to start the login again by inserting your email address to receive a new magic link.

Event not found after login

Once you are logged in, you need first to enter into the right Community (if you are part of multiple communities)
At the bottom of the Community Home page, you simply have to click on the event to access it.

If you don't see the event and you're using Swapcard app or the web version https://app.swapcard.com, it could be due that:

  • The event is hosted in a dedicated mobile app or web domain—click any event email link to access the correct domain.

  • The event might not be published yet by the organizer.

  • You may be logged in with the wrong email address. Compare the email listed in your profile with the one that received the invitation.

  • Event settings from the organizer side might prevent it from showing—contact the event organizer for confirmation.

  • Still stuck? Contact our support team, who can generate a new magic link and assist further.

Check your network & browser

  • Ensure you're connected to a stable network (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet).

  • Use a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).

  • Disable any VPNs, firewalls, pop‑up blockers, or corporate filtering that may block access.

  • Consider reinstalling the app if you're having persistent issues.

Try accessing directly through the event URL

  • Instead of using branded or organizer-sent links, go directly to the main event site (often something like https://app.swapcard.com/your-event)

  • Log in from the homepage rather than an email link.

Disable ad blockers, antivirus & browser extensions

  • Turn off ad blockers, privacy extensions, or antivirus software that may block scripts or cookies.

  • After disabling, clear cache and cookies, then try again or open an incognito/private window.

Use branded links appropriately

  • If you've received a branded link from the organizer, try opening it on a different browser or copy-paste it into a private window.

  • If it still doesn't work, navigate directly to the event site and log in from there.

Clear cache and cookies

  • In browser settings, clear your cache and cookies, then refresh the login page.

Contact support if all else fails

  • If the issue persists, reach out via the Contact App Support widget at the bottom‑right corner or ask the Event Organizer for help.

  • Detail your device type, browser, any error messages, and the steps you've already tried.

Accessing and logging in to your event account is simple with the right approach. First, make sure you've downloaded the correct app for your specific event or are using the right web platform. Then, log in with your preferred method, whether you choose a password or a one-time code. If you encounter any login issues, this guide provides clear steps to troubleshoot common problems. For further assistance, our support team is always ready to help.
